
Experienced contractor Lawrence “Larry” Roman serves as chairman of WDF, Inc., operating out of Mount Vernon, NY. Owned by Tutor Perini, one of the largest construction firms in the United States, WDF, Inc., specializes in installing mechanical systems for large, complex projects in the New York City area. In his long career as a contractor, Lawrence Roman has been honored with numerous awards, including the Silver Shovel Award in 2007 from the Subcontractors Trade Association of New York.
At an annual dinner and awards night, the Subcontractors Trade Association honors leaders in the construction industry for their contributions and dedication. Several awards are issued, including the Silver Shovel Award, Builder of the Year Award, Subcontractor of the Year Award, and others. The awards are intended to recognize leadership and excellence among members of the organization.
In 2018, the Silver Shovel Award was given to Emad Lotfalla, senior vice president of construction at Related Companies. Mr. Lotfalla joined Related in 2013, where he oversaw a team of more than 200 people working on the Hudson Yards Development project. Previously, he worked in management and oversaw many high profile projects, including at the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, the terminal expansion at JFK International Airport, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, among others.
